This super handy dishwashing sponge is hand made in Egypt from the luffa plant. A 100% biodegradable alternative to plastic sponges!
When immersed in water, the sponge swells into a soft and flexible sponge. The sponge can also be used dry, then it is a bit stiffer.
The sponge will last for months and can be composted when worn out.
Tips for use:
- Rinse well with water before first use.
- Use in warm water with detergent.
- To keep the loofah fresh between uses, squeeze out the excess water, shake out any dirty bits and hang the pad to dry on the cotton loop.
- Wash occasionally in the washing machine or by hand for more frequent use.

I love it! I am really happy with it.
It expands when wet, foams well but doesn't hold water so need to add some to make it foamy again.
It doesn't absorb and keep all the food pieces and inside and is easy to rinse of and shake out food particles and dries super fast! Does it work exactly the same as regular sponges? No. But is it eco friendly and can I live with the one minor downside? Absolutely Yes!
This is already the second time that we have ordered these pads. They are a great alternative for plastic pads to wash dishes, and we used each for around 2 months (quite endurable). After 2-3 months it loses its shape, and you cannot avoid small food rests from getting inside the little holes. Would recommend it.
The loofah really expands (to three times its original size) once you get it wet. It doesn't hold water so I need to add more water to it when washing, and its dryness can make washing a bit difficult. It has really good friction for scrubbing without scratching dishes.
